Motorists are advised to avoid the R34 route towards Utrecht from Newcastle following an incident involving a jack-knifed truck. The incident has led to potential traffic disruptions and poses risks to road users.

According to official sources at the scene, the circumstances surrounding the jack-knifing remain under investigation.

However, a source on the scene explained that initial assessments suggest that wet road conditions may have contributed to the driver losing control of the large vehicle. This resulted in the truck jack-knifing and eventually coming to a halt alongside the road, necessitating immediate attention.

While the driver fortunately escaped injury, the situation prompted a response from emergency services. Starz Towing is currently on-site to assist with recovery operations. However, due to the complexity of the situation, road closures are anticipated as the recovery process unfolds.

As it is uncertain how long the recovery will take, as a precautionary measure, Road Angels South Africa is urging motorists to explore alternative routes or postpone non-essential journeys until the situation is resolved.

The safety of all road users remains paramount, and authorities are working tirelessly to manage the situation effectively.
