The second phase of constructing a bridge in Phoenix in ward 48 is progressing well. Phase one was completed last year.

The construction of the collapsed bridge on Street 120183 started in January last year and is expected to be completed in January 2025.

Project manager, Gabriel Manikan said phase two of the project is progressing as planned. “Everything is on track, and we are confident that we will meet the expected deadline. R49 million was allocated for this project,” he said.

Project technician, Thabiso Ndlovu said the team is currently busy with assembling scaffolding and decking and steel fixing.

Once that is completed, they will be preparing concrete to cast on the top layer of the bridge. The project has created job opportunities for locals which will impact positively on the local economy and skills development.
