Hundreds of residents of Phomolong in Modimolle attended the handover of a municipal project to contractors to hear if there were any chances of employment for them.

What was initially intended as a meeting for a few individuals turned into a large handover when residents pitched up. Seven roads in Ward 8, Extension 8 and 11, will be paved.

This will cover a total distance of 3,6 km of dirt roads that will be turned into paved roads with stormwater drainage and traffic calming measures, making access to houses much easier.

The mayor of the Modimolle-Mookgphong Municipality, Sechele Sebolai, the municipal manager Ben Thobela and other municipal officials attended the handover of the projects to the engineers T2Tech and the contractor, Baphalaborwa.

The community was urged to take ownership of the project and ensure it continues smoothly. The project is estimated to be completed within two months.
