CHRISSIESMEER – The P177 route linking Carolina and Chrissiesmeer, which was closed after the collapse of a bridge during torrential rainfall on 29 December 2024, is officially reopened.

Mpumalanga MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport, Mr Thulasizwe Thomo, officiated the reopening ceremony following the completion of the reconstruction project.

The corrugated culvert bridge that gave way in December posed serious safety risks, forcing the closure of the road for several months and impacting residents, farmers, businesses, and daily commuters in the area.

Motorists can now resume normal travel on the P177 linking Carolina and Chrissiesmeer.
