Investors have pledged R16 billion towards 22 projects in various sectors, including property and construction, automotive, and infrastructure.

JOHANNESBURG - The inaugural Tshwane Investment Summit is off to a good start after beating its initial target for pledges by at least threefold.

Investors have pledged R16 billion towards 22 projects in various sectors, including property and construction, automotive, and infrastructure.

The summit was held in Menlyn on Wednesday, led by Mayor Nasiphi Moya, who was joined by city officials, Gauteng Finance and Economic Development MEC Lebogang Maile, and investors.

Mayor Moya said she was optimistic that the ambitious pledges would yield results and not just be another talk shop.

"These ones are in the process of being approved, hence we are saying the opportunity is to go through the one-stop shop so we can push them and we can convert these pledges into commitments," she said.
