The Tshwane metro’s Roads and Transport Department informs the public, residents, commuters, and all road users of a planned road closure in Mamelodi as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade and modernise the city's economic infrastructure.
The Tshwane metro Roads and Transport Department has informed the public of the full road closure of Tsamaya Avenue, Mamelodi K-18.
MMC for Roads and Transport, Tlangi Mogale, said the road will be closed from April 9, for approximately 18 months.
Mogale said this intervention forms part of the city’s broader programme to improve road networks, enhance mobility, and support economic activity by ensuring safer, more efficient transport corridors.
“This closure is necessary to allow for road construction and infrastructure upgrades that will improve road safety, traffic flow, and long-term service delivery in the area,” she said.
Mogale advised motorists that no public vehicles will be permitted within the designated work zone. She also warned them that increased traffic volumes and congestion are expected on surrounding routes.
“Travel delays may occur in and around the affected area and access to certain areas adjacent to the construction site will be restricted,” added Mogale.
She urged road users to exercise patience and caution, adhere to temporary road signage, and make use of alternative routes where possible.
“This project reflects the city’s continued investment in infrastructure that enables economic growth, supports communities, and improves daily mobility for residents,” she said.
Mogale said the city appreciates the co-operation and understanding of all affected road users during this period of construction.
