A major road resurfacing project is currently underway along Tonk Meter Road in Springs. The project spans approximately 3km and forms part of the City’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and upgrading its road infrastructure for improved safety and mobility.

This vital route serves as a connector for a high volume of traffic between Dunnottar in Nigel and the Springs Central Business District (CBD). It also links motorists travelling along the N17 toll road from Springs towards Ermelo, as well as commuters heading from Springs to Johannesburg.

Due to the nature and scale of the works, motorists may experience temporary disruptions, including lane closures, reduced speed limits, and possible detours along sections of Tonk Meter Road. The City apologises for any inconvenience caused during this period and appeals to all road users to exercise caution, adhere to traffic signage, and be patient while these essential upgrades are being conducted.

The resurfacing project is part of the broader road maintenance and infrastructure development programme aimed at enhancing service delivery, reducing vehicle wear and tear, and improving road safety for all users.

We thank residents and commuters for their understanding and cooperation as we work to create a safer, more efficient road network in Ekurhuleni.
