To ensure smoother and safer roads for the residents of Table View, the City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate has officially kicked off a road resurfacing and maintenance project.

As of Monday, 16 October, the project includes the rejuvenation of several key thoroughfares in the area, including Circle Road, Chestnut Street, Merlot Avenue and Redwood Road. The initiative is set to continue until Thursday, 3 November.

The primary objective of the work is to extend the longevity and quality of the city’s vital road network. To achieve this, selected road segments will undergo a meticulous process involving the removal of deteriorated road sections and their replacement with a durable bitumen-treated base.

Additionally, these roadworks will involve milling to an appropriate depth and replacing with medium asphalt, along with the reinstatement of existing road markings to their original locations.

While these enhancements are undoubtedly beneficial in the long run, they do come with some temporary disruptions. The roadworks are scheduled from 07:30am to 5:30pm on weekdays, impacting the flow of traffic in both directions. To minimise inconvenience, the City strongly encourages road users to explore alternative routes during this period.

The safety and convenience of all commuters remain paramount, and the City’s mayoral committee member for urban mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas, emphasised their commitment to ensuring courtesy and efficiency throughout this endeavour.

Every effort will be made to maintain regulated traffic flow and crucial intersections will be kept open during construction.
