Durban, 10 September 2025 – The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) wishes to advise road users of the temporary road closure of Eden Road, between 10 Eden Road (Blood Bank Road) and Oxford Road, for bridge staging as part of the ongoing construction of the upgraded M13 Paradise Valley On and off ramp bridges.

“Construction is progressing on the M13 Paradise Valley Interchange upgrade. This closure is necessary to support the broader upgrade of the N3 between Westville and Paradise Valley. Access for residents and visitors to the Paradise Valley Nature Reserve will be maintained via a newly constructed access road,” said Jason Lowe, SANRAL’s Eastern Region Geometrics Specialist Engineer.

The temporary road closure will take place as follows:

  • Road section affected: Eden Road between 10 Eden Road (Blood Bank Road) and Oxford Road
  • Closure period: Tuesday, 30 September 2025 – Saturday, 14 November 2026
  • Alternative access: A new access road will be opened from the M13 Westbound (Durban to Pinetown) carriageway, with full directional signage in place before the closure begins.

CLOSURE LOCATION:

Eden Road:

  • Eden Road closed between 10 Eden Rd (Blood Bank Rd) and Oxford Road.
  • Access into Eden Road shall be via the M13 Westbound Carriageway, a new access will be created to enter and exit Eden Road.

“SANRAL understands the negative impact any road closure has on the travelling public and appreciates the support received from those affected by this temporary closure,” added Lowe
