The D’Arrigo family’s investment in Springs is creating hundreds of jobs as construction of the lifestyle centre progresses.

With one project already completed and set to open soon, the new lifestyle centre opposite Springs Mall is quickly taking shape.

Developers say it will become a key source of employment and a convenient shopping destination for the community.

The D’Arrigo family’s continued investment in Springs and their commitment to creating local jobs remain central to the project. The Ford dealership on the site has already been completed and is expected to open in February 2026.

This publication recently toured the development to view progress and speak to those leading the project about the latest milestones and what the community can expect.

Project manager Craig Cullingworth confirmed that all legal processes, including consolidations, rezoning and plan approvals, have been finalised.

“The municipality has been very supportive of the development because it is a significant investment for the clients in Springs,” he said.

He added that although the legalities took longer than they expected, the project is now moving forward.

“We are about to commence with the appointment and building contract for the new Toyota dealership, which is set to begin in January 2026. We are also working hard to secure tenants for the centre,” Cullingworth said.

Among the major components of the development is the construction of the main retail centre, which will include a Food Lover’s Market expected to employ more than 200 residents.

Work on the fast-food outlets is scheduled to begin in February 2026.

Carmela D’Arrigo confirmed that the centre will host brands such as Gelmar, KFC, McDonald’s, Hoppies and others.

“We have listened to what the Springs community wants, and we are delivering exactly that. People have been asking for more shopping options and entertainment to match the growth of the town, and they will get it,” she said.

Staying true to their commitment to hire locally, D’Arrigo said workers from nearby informal settlements have been employed during construction.

Once fully operational, the centre is expected to create around 400 jobs. Cullingworth added that residents can expect a well-rounded offering.

“People can expect well-priced goods, food, furniture and restaurants, all at affordable prices, with shops that cater to a wide range of income groups. Everyone will be able to enjoy what the centre has to offer,” he said.

Retail centres are estimated to open in March 2027.
