Shamrock Road resurfacing strengthens safety and supports local businesses, says Ward 36 councillor.
Ward 36 Clr Wendy Morgan has welcomed the resurfacing of Shamrock Road, saying the upgrade has brought new life to the area.
Morgan praised the City of Ekurhuleni for the work done to improve the condition of the road.
She said the resurfacing project has given a boost to the Primrose Business District.
“The Better Primrose initiative is already doing wonderful work to keep the area clean,” said Morgan.
“The new road surface and clear markings bring renewed energy to the area. It has also addressed potholes and undulations that were affecting motorists.”
Morgan highlighted that Shamrock Road is a busy route, serving as both an entrance and exit point for traffic travelling between Germiston and Primrose. The road also accommodates traffic from Bedfordview and Johannesburg via Malvern.
“We also receive traffic from taxis and public buses, as there are several schools in the ward. Motorists’ safety is now better assured,” she added.
Morgan encouraged residents to continue reporting potholes and other road defects, saying that community reporting often leads to a positive response from the city, particularly when the Roads Department has available funding to carry out repairs.
