SANRAL engaged residents in Ga-Moloi to provide updates on planned road upgrades, land acquisition processes, and long-term infrastructure development in the Makhuduthamaga sub-region.
Residents of the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality gathered at the Maphotse Sports Ground in Ga-Moloi Village, Ward 10, where the South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) outlined its current and future road infrastructure projects in the sub-region.
The meeting formed part of SANRAL’s engagement with communities to provide information on planned developments and to discuss processes related to statutory control and land acquisition linked to upcoming projects.
During the session, SANRAL officials also presented the agency’s Transformation Policy and its Horizon 2030 Strategy, which guide the implementation of road construction and development initiatives.
Residents received updates on the major rehabilitation project along the R579 route, which is expected to directly affect Wards 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10 within the municipality.
The agency further explained the procedures involved in land acquisition and compliance with statutory requirements.
Municipal spokesperson Thomas Mashabela said the meeting created a platform for transparent dialogue between the agency and community members.
“The engagement allowed residents to raise their concerns, seek clarity, and share inputs on matters affecting their communities,” Mashabela said.
According to Mashabela, the session concluded on a positive note, with residents welcoming the development initiatives and expressing appreciation for the opportunity to engage directly with stakeholders.
“The session reaffirmed a shared commitment to infrastructure development, accountability, and improved service delivery in Makhuduthamaga,” he added.
Among those in attendance were Makhuduthamaga Mayor Merah Mahlase, Council Speaker Judy Mphelane-Nkgadima, members of the Executive Committee, including Eric Makatishe Mosoane and Morwamakoti Makanyoge, Acting Municipal Manager and Senior Manager for Corporate Services Pakeng Matsetse, Ward 10 councillor Kanana Leokana, and other senior municipal officials.
