Building for the future.

Thulasizwe Thomo, MEC of the Mpumalanga Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport, visited the construction of Rockdale Primary School to oversee the progress.

Thomo, together with the departmental infrastructure team, were there to assess the current status of the construction and ensure progress aligns with the approved project scope.

According to a report, the construction includes building 24 classrooms, six ablution blocks, and two Grade R classrooms.

It will also include a computer centre, a science laboratory, electrical and mechanical installations, and many other facilities.

In their construction plan, there’s also a covered car park, a designated bus drop-off area, as well as a sports field and two combi courts.

The MEC was pleased with the progress of the construction and the amount of work already completed at the site.

This is a positive reflection of the collaborative efforts between the department, contractors, and stakeholders, and it further reinforces a commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that supports teaching and learning environments.

The site reflects a well-managed, well-run and efficient construction process.

“We are pleased with the progress being demonstrated across the majority of our building infrastructure projects, particularly the construction of educational infrastructure. Many of our educational infrastructure projects, including Rockdale Primary School, are progressing seamlessly, and in several cases, ahead of schedule‚” said Thomo.
