The road, the P130, will help link Howick with Impendle and is expected to be complete by August next year.

Mafias will not be involved in the construction of a long-awaited R100 million, three-kilometre stretch of road in rural KwaNovuka, launched on Thursday.

Transport MEC Siboniso Duma, said: “We will not allow any criminal elements to hijack this or any other development project. The days of people demanding 30% are over.

We have ensured that only deserving local companies, established by honest entrepreneurs, will be paid close to R17,3 million for the construction and other services rendered.
