LIMPOPO – Expectations are high among the unemployed around Tshedza and Vuvha villa, where a R69-million road project was officially launched by the mayor of the Makhado Local Municipality, Samuel Munyai, at Tshedza last Wednesday.

Munyai said the initiative was part of the government’s way of providing jobs. “We will do our best to make sure that all South Africans enjoy the fruit of our hard-earned freedom.” He explained that the scope of the work includes the upgrading of gravel roads to tarred roads.

The second phase of the project is a stretch of six kilometres of road, which will include stormwater drainage pipes. “The duration of the project is 22 months,” he said. According to him, the construction phase, which started last week, will create close to 60 jobs.

“This is a true reflection of what service delivery is all about. We will continue to make sure that our people are being taken care of because they deserve it.”

He explained that stormwater drainage is at the core of the project as it will then make the road durable, even in times of heavy rains.

Chief Zwokundavhalala Radzilani was on cloud nine during the occasion. “We have no doubt that this project will play a meaningful role in uplifting the standard of life of our people,” he said.
