Sanral said they were working closely with Collins Residential to meet the construction timelines.

The planned new interchange on the N2 between Salt Rock and Tinley Manor is still on track.

Residential developer Collins Group is just awaiting approval from the South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) to proceed.

Collins managing director Geoff Perkins told a recent panel discussion on development at Manor House that if no approval hiccups were encountered, construction could start in the fourth quarter of this year, with the goal of completing the project by the end of 2025.

“We have submitted our detailed design for the N2 south-facing on- and off-ramps to Sanral and expect approval soon,” said Perkins.

The project, estimated to cost more than R100-million, will enhance local infrastructure.

Recently, the company completed the upgrade at the intersection of Salt Rock and Sheffield Beach Roads (P330/P474). The addition of new traffic lights and slip lanes have already improved traffic flow.

Perkins highlighted the significance of these infrastructure improvements for the community.

“This is a vital route serving several estates, including Seaton and Lalela. Our commitment to this upgrade demonstrates our dedication to supporting the community,” he said.

Sanral’s Eastern Region design and construction manager, Ravi Ronny, expressed the agency’s intention to collaborate closely with Collins Residential to meet the planned construction timelines.

“We have made significant progress in reviewing their design and are in the final stages of review and comment. However, we cannot commit to specific dates, as some processes require multiple engagements with the developer’s team,” said Ronny.
