The rehabilitation project spans several Polokwane suburbs. Here's a look at which routes are affected and for how long.

POLOKWANE – Motorists travelling through Polokwane Central, Flora Park, Nirvana, Westenburg and Ladanna will need to find new routes for the next three months, as the municipality begins rehabilitation work on a number of the city’s key streets.

Polokwane Municipality has confirmed that the work starts on July 29, targeting some of the busiest roads in these areas.

While the upgrades are intended to improve road conditions long-term, residents can expect significant disruption in the short term.

Closures to run until October

The closures will be in effect from July 29 until October 30.

Temporary traffic controls and signage will be in place throughout the project to guide motorists and pedestrians safely around the affected sites.

Streets affected

The following roads will be closed during this period:

• Polokwane Central: Dorp, Burger, Voortrekker, Oost, Compensatie, Jorissen and Landdros Mare streets
• Flora Park: Macdonald, Knox, Jasmyn, Katjepiering and Euphorbia streets
• Nirvana: Jaipur, Monsoon and Istanbul streets
• Westenburg: Leon, Coverdale, Kelly and Mohamed streets
• Ladanna: Veldspaat, Dendron Road/Witklip, Pietersburg, Emerald, Bulawayo, Railway, Lood, Mika and Fosfaat streets

Motorists urged to plan ahead

The municipality has urged road users to exercise patience and caution in the affected areas, use alternative routes where possible, and plan their journeys in advance to avoid unnecessary delays. It has apologised for any inconvenience caused during the works.
