JRA referred the job to Johannesburg Water for the pipe leak to be fixed.

While the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) confirmed to the publication on November 12 that it inspected the excavation on Jan Smuts Avenue in Craighall, it said a water leak was identified, which was referred to Johannesburg Water to fix.

This comes after an inquiry was sent to Johannesburg Water, interrogating the timeline of when the excavation would be backfilled.

Johannesburg Water spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala on November 4 said she was aware that the excavation remained open because of a damaged water pipe, which would be referred to the JRA.

JRA communication officer Kelebogile Mafa clarified, “Our wayleave referred it to the water entity to address the leak so we can attend to our infrastructure, which is a broken stormwater drain.”
