The rehabilitation project of the Pelindaba road is 60% completed and should be fully completed by December 2026, the North West Department of Public Works and Roads said.

The rehabilitation of the 22 km stretch of road from Necsa to Pecanwood up until the junction of the R560, started in March 2023. It includes the construction of a dual carriageway on some parts of the road, a bridge and the widening of the existing single carriageway to include road shoulders.

The R630 million project over a 45-month period has so far created 251 job opportunities, with 172 of them being youth. “The rehabilitation project of Road P31/1 from Gauteng border to P123/1, which commenced in March 2023, is a 45-month contract. The physical progress on the project is at 60,19%, and is expected to be completed in December 2026,” said spokesperson Wandi Tong.
