Seaton House School has broken ground, promising a world-class campus by January 2027.

Earthworks are now under way inside the Seaton Commercial Precinct, just north of Salt Rock, with contruction expected to be complete by November.

Seaton House is an independent, co-educational school with a Christian foundation, offering education from Grade 0000 to Grade 12. The school is being purpose-built as a biophilic campus, designed to integrate learning with nature.

Seaton House board chair and project lead Elwyn van den Aardweg described the start of construction as a milestone moment.

“We are grateful to everyone who has supported this vision. We are not only building classrooms, but laying foundations for a school rooted in faith, character and excellence,” he said.

The 25-hectare campus is located on the seaward side of the N2, between the Seaton and Lalela estates. It is close to established residential areas including Springvale, Brettenwood, Dunkirk, Elaleni and Zululami.

Accessibility to the school is expected to improve with the upgrade of the P228 road and the construction of a new N2 interchange, anticipated to be completed later this year.

Phase one of construction, led by Construction ID, includes an administration block, junior and senior classroom buildings, a 450-seat auditorium and a central Main Square. Planned sports facilities include two rugby fields, a cricket oval and a multi-use court, with future phases set to add a swimming pool and a synthetic hockey field.

Construction ID director Stuart Blacklaw said the project would leave a lasting impact.

“Seaton House is a meaningful development that will play an important role in the long-term growth of the region,” he said.

Interest in the school has been strong, with more than 475 families registering interest and over 170 formal applications already received for the opening grades.

Seaton House is also the first development to break ground in the Seaton Commercial Precinct, setting the tone for future retail, medical and office developments.
