The Ravensmead Community can look forward to having access to a new state-of-the-art clinic by mid-2026.
The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness states that the construction of the Community Day Centre (CDC) is on track.
Provincial MEC Mireille Wenger recently visited the site to assess the construction progress.
The new clinic will replace the current one that can no longer meet the needs of the growing Ravensmead community.
The new clinic will expand the range of services available to residents and ensure that care is accessible when and where it is needed.
A wide range of services will be on offer, including chronic and acute disease management, oral health and dental care, x-rays, a pharmacy, and much more.
Features also include sheltered waiting areas for those arriving before opening hours and improved patient flow. The facility is strategically located in Ravensmead’s central business district, making it easily accessible by public transport.
Once construction is complete, additional months will be needed to install equipment and prepare the facility.
Wenger has appealed to residents to take ownership of the new clinic once it opens.
“This facility exists to support you, your loved ones, and the broader community on your health journey. We want to see it protected and cared for so it can serve generations to come. Please also be patient with staff as we navigate the early teething problems that will come with opening a new clinic.”
Wenger highlighted the importance of infrastructure projects like the Ravensmead CDC for communities most in need:
“Investing in modern, well-designed healthcare facilities is one of my key priorities. These projects not only improve access to vital services but also play a critical role in reducing long queues and waiting times. By expanding infrastructure in communities like Ravensmead, we are building a stronger, more accessible healthcare system for all.”
