Property industry leaders recently gathered at Zimbali Lakes for the unveiling of Aurum, the estate’s newest completed residential development.

The development, made up of only six luxury homes, has received a Preliminary EDGE Advanced green rating from the Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The rating recognises its resource-efficient design, sustainable building materials and high construction standards. Compared to similar homes, the residences are expected to use 60% less energy, 30% less water and produce 27% fewer carbon emissions.

The launch event formed part of Zimbali Lakes’ First Thursday initiative and was hosted at Aurum. More than 50 invited guests from the property sector attended, including developers, agents and industry partners, who were given access to the completed units.

The First Thursday programme rotates across various locations within Zimbali Lakes and is designed to provide regular updates on development progress and future phases.

Zimbali Lakes vice-president of operations Neil Cocker said the completed development reflects the quality and scale of projects currently under way across the estate, with further growth planned for 2026.

“We want to share the estate’s progress, and Aurum is a fantastic example of the calibre of projects taking shape across the estate. We are excited about what 2026 has in store,” said Cocker.
