Upgrade projects are underway to address backlogs for the residents in regions 1 and 3, with completion scheduled for January 2028.
The residents of Winterveldt and Andeon Ext 37 are set to benefit from bulk water and sewer projects which are under construction.
The projects aim to assist the areas long plagued by poor reticulation and sewer systems.
The work is scheduled to be completed in January 2028, and the upgrade services include new sewer reticulation, reservoirs, sewer networks and toilet structures.
According to the MMC for Human Settlements, Aaron Maluleka, the project comprising10km bulk water, 11km sewer, and the erection and installation of the 20ml reservoir will cater for the residents in Slovo and Winterveldt Ext 2 Phase 5 in wards 9, 24, 25, 26, 94, and 11.
Maluleka said the total approved budget on the medium-term revenue expenditure framework (MTREF) is more than R1.5-million.
He highlighted the progress in Winterveldt, where residents of extensions 3 and 4 have, over the years, been serviced with internal water and sewer networks.
“The focus of internal water supply is currently on the completion of Winterveldt Ext 4, 5 and 6.
“The vision for redevelopment is to transform existing settlements into a well-planned, self-sustaining, and balanced suburb of Tshwane,” Malukeka explained.
Meanwhile, he also said that the construction of water and sewer reticulation services in Andeon Ext 37 will service the residents of the Zama Zama and Malusi 2 informal settlements in Region 3.
“The project is located on part of Portion 63, 67, and the remainder of Portion 82 of the farm Zandfontein 317-JR.
“It entails the provision of water and sewer reticulation services to 1 133 stands, of which 1 111 are residential. A total of 1 111 toilet top structures will also be constructed,” he said.
In addition, Maluleke said there will be further development on the unused and vacant land owned by the metro, which will result in the building of mixed-type housing units.
He said the total approved budget on the MTREF is more than R1.3-million, with the scheduled completion of work set for January 24, 2028.
Maluleka appealed to the residents to protect the project and refrain from disrupting work to avoid further delays.
“Tshwane remains committed to delivering services that meet the needs of communities while enhancing the overall quality of life,” he said.
