Sanral said the road will be closed between the 1000 Hills Road intersection and the N3 southbound on-ramp of the Peacevale Interchange.

Motorists using Meadway Road, outer west Durban, are advised of a temporary full closure on Sunday, October 5, to allow for the placement of bridge beams as part of the N3 Key Ridge to Hammarsdale Interchange upgrade.

The South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) said the road will be closed between the 1000 Hills Road intersection and the N3 southbound on-ramp of the Peacevale Interchange.

“Meadway Road will be fully closed to allow for the placement of temporary steel beams at the new bridge over Meadway Road,” said Jason Lowe, Sanral’s KZN Provincial Specialist Geometrics Engineer.

Lowe added that the N3 southbound (Durban-bound) on-ramp from Peacevale via DR 706 and from Cliffdale via Sterkspruit Road will remain open, with Road Traffic Inspectorate officers on hand to assist and monitor traffic flow.

Closure schedule:

  • 6 am to 6.15 am – Close Meadway Road
  • 6.15 am to 2.45 pm – Placement of steel beams
  • 2.45 pm to 3 pm – Reopen Meadway Road

Lowe said that the schedule could change depending on weather conditions, but that a second notice with new dates and times would be issued.

“We ask motorists to be patient during the closure and to plan and adjust their trips to accommodate the closure, while adhering to speed limits.

“Sanral apologises for any inconvenience and thanks motorists for their patience during the continued road construction,” he said.
