Quality cardiac care – now at your doorstep.
Life Mount Edgecombe Hospital is proud to announce the start of construction on the long-awaited cardiac facility, bringing cutting-edge care closer to home for the communities of Phoenix, Mount Edgecombe, Verulam, KwaMashu and surrounding areas.
The development includes a Catheterisation Laboratory (Cathlab), Cardiac Theatre, and a 15-bed Cardiac ICU/High Care Unit—designed to meet the region’s growing need for advanced cardiovascular services.
Patients requiring cardiac intervention often had to travel long distances to get the care they need. The new cardiac unit at Life Mount Edgecombe Hospital changes that, ensuring expert cardiac care is now available right on your doorstep. The unit will be supported by two full-time cardiologists, Dr Solomon Bikita and Dr Ash Naicker.
In addition, construction is underway on a revamped Emergency Unit, modernised reception area, and a striking new façade – all reflecting our commitment to quality, dignity, and service.
We are committed to making life better for the community we serve. Investing in our community is a priority and providing quality medical care across all specialties is our passion. Life Mount Edgecombe Hospital is the preferred provider for major medical funders, making this a vital and accessible step forward in patient care.
Stacey Govender, the hospital manager, says that the project reflects the voice of our community. We’ve listened and we are delivering. We cannot wait to welcome you to a new era of care.
