The journey to the Leratong City nodal development has begun with its recent sod turning ceremony.
A partnership between the Gauteng government, Mogale City Local Municipality, and Trendville, plans for the mixed-use development include 15 000 housing units, the 35 000m2 Leratong City regional mall, a commercial precinct with government support services, and a private hospital. Parks, public transport nodes, schools, and early childhood development centres are also included in the later phases of the development’s plans.
Located across the road from the regional Leratong Hospital at the intersection of major roads linking Mogale City, Randfontein, Merafong, Roodepoort, Florida, and Johannesburg, the total development extends over 350 hectares.
McCormick Property Development will develop Leratong City Mall anticipated to break ground before the end of June 2025 – its 89th retail project, and it’s biggest to date.
The developers will incorporate innovative concepts such as Kasi CoLAB, a township design entrepreneur incubator, the development of market gardens and sports facilities.
The first phase of the mixed-use development will open along with Leratong City Mall in late October 2026.
