OHRIGSTAD – There are no signs of improvements to the D4154. In its weekly update on road challenges, the Road Agency Limpopo (RAL) said there are no funds for upgrades.

“Currently there are no funds available to upgrade the D4154 from the R36 Ga-Moraba to Leboeng and Phiring in the Sekhukhune District Municipality.

“RAL is doing its best to raise the necessary funds to address the road backlog. We will keep you updated once the status quo regarding the road has changed and there is progress,” said its spokesperson, Maropeng Manyathela, on Monday September 12.

Meanwhile community members have pleaded with RAL and the Limpopo Department of Roads and Infrastructure to fast-track their plans and ensure the road is revamped.

“We understand their challenges, but the D4154 has been in a bad state for more than five years. They prioritise other roads, neglecting ours. We need it upgraded as soon as possible,” said a community member, Thabo Moraba.

Locals in Tubatse have always complained about the heavy traffic on the R37 and R555, and about the state the of road from Steelpoort to Jane Furse (D2219), Olifantspoortjie (D737), the Alverton to Kgautswana road, and the Sekhukhune road.
