JRA has carried out a round of road maintenance across Region B, fixing potholes and replacing missing or damaged road signs at several locations.

Across Region B, Johannesburg Roads Agency carried out a round of road maintenance, fixing potholes and replacing missing or damaged road signs at several locations.

JRA teams repaired potholes in Randpark, Fairway, and Montgomery Park, while also replacing damaged and missing stop signs and yield signs at a number of roads in Strydom Park on April 7. The affected roads included Republic Road, at the corner of Lona Road, Hammer Avenue, at the corner of Gerhardus Street, Naad Street, Standard Close, and Susan Road, and Tungsten Road, at the corners of Wikas Street and CR Swart Drive. Work at these locations involved erecting new poles and signs.

Yellow edge lines were also painted on Wicklow Drive and Emmarentia Avenue in Strydom Park, as well as parts of Parkview, to improve visibility for road users.

JRA acting head of regional operations Mpho Maruping said the work formed part of the agency’s broader commitment to keeping Johannesburg’s roads safe and functional. “Road signs are an important part of JRA’s road infrastructure and are essential in traffic flow management and road safety. The JRA maintenance teams are replacing damaged and missing signage, however help is needed to keep Johannesburg’s roads functional.”

Maruping appealed to road users to drive carefully, to avoid accidentally damaging infrastructure, and to report any theft or vandalism of road signs, traffic signals, or other public infrastructure to law enforcement without delay.
