The City of Cape Town has started a series of road resurfacing projects in Strand, Nomzamo and Gordon’s Bay aimed at improving road safety and driving conditions in the area.



Work began on Friday, March 13 and is expected to continue until May 14, weather permitting and provided there are no unforeseen delays. Construction will take place on weekdays between 7am and 5pm.



City’s mayoral committee member for urban mobility, Roberto Quintas, said residents and business owners can expect improved road conditions once the project is completed.



“Residents and business owners in Strand, Nomzamo and Gordon’s Bay can expect improved road safety conditions and riding quality, as well as decreased vehicle user costs once this project is complete. Our teams will do their best to complete the road resurfacing as efficiently as possible,” he said.



The work includes resurfacing affected roads with new asphalt, repairing isolated kerbs and channels, and reinstating road markings removed during the process.



In Strand, work will take place on Aerodrome Road, Altena Road, Boschendal Road, Bosman Street, Mikro Avenue, Da Gama Street, Daniel Street, De Beers Road, Cooke Street, Thompson Street, Donkin Street, Enslin Street, Mynhardt Street, Niehaus Street and Steyn Street.



In Nomzamo, the resurfacing will cover Magatya Street, Milton Street, Phaliso Road, Lumka Street, Tyilana Street, Nkume Street, Skoji Street, Saphepha Street and Simon Street.
