Travel should be easier in Ulundi, with the municipality embarking on rehabilitation of its gravel roads – starting in Ningizimu in Ward 1.

Mayor Wilson Ntshangase said no tender has been issued for this project as the municipality is using its own equipment, including a TLB, grader, roller, and tipper trucks.

This will ensure the project is implemented efficiently and in a cost-effective manner.

“This re-gravelling programme is an important intervention, particularly in rural areas where access roads play a vital role in daily life.”

Ntshangase said they respectfully ask all Amakhosi to allow the municipality access to suitable gravelling soil or stones for the project.

“At present, we do not have a dedicated budget to procure gravelling material, and such cooperation will greatly assist us in ensuring the successful implementation of this programme for the benefit of our communities,” Ntshangase said.

This programme is set to be rolled out across all 24 wards of Ulundi.

“We urge the public to kindly exercise patience during the implementation period,” he concluded.
