The V&A Waterfront has begun the next phase of its infrastructure programme to replace ageing water and sewer pipelines, with construction moving along Dock Road from the One&Only Cape Town towards Ebenezer Circle from Monday, July 13.
Despite the works, traffic access along Dock Road will be maintained. One inbound lane will remain open through the affected section, while both outbound lanes will continue operating as normal.
Traffic marshals and clearly marked signage will be in place to help manage traffic flow and ensure pedestrian safety around the construction zone.
Visitors are encouraged to consider alternative parking options during the upgrades. The Silo and Clock Tower parking garages will offer free weekend parking until the end of November, while the Battery Park parking garage will also remain free to the public on weekends.
For easier access to the Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre, motorists are advised to enter the Waterfront via Helen Suzman Boulevard at Portswood Road or through Granger Bay Boulevard.
The pipeline replacement forms part of the Waterfront's ongoing infrastructure maintenance programme aimed at upgrading essential underground services.
