TZANEEN-The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Limpopo has raised alarm over the deteriorating condition of the D1350 road in Deerpark, calling on Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure MEC Ernest Rachoene to urgently intervene and provide clear timelines for its maintenance.

This follows an oversight inspection by DA Councillor Chrisma Bredenkamp, who found the road to be in a severely dilapidated state, riddled with large potholes and lacking proper upkeep for years.

Bredenkamp warned that the poor condition of the road poses a serious risk to motorists and pedestrians.

The D1350 road, which stretches from the Deerpark T-junction to Madumane via Morutji and the Madumane four-way, is a key route for workers, learners, and residents in the Greater Tzaneen and Greater Letaba municipalities.

Despite claims from the Greater Tzaneen Municipality and the Public Works Department that contractors have been appointed for its maintenance, the DA says there is little visible evidence of any work being done.

“Promises won’t fill the potholes,” the DA said, urging the department to act swiftly and ensure the road is made safe and accessible for all who depend on it daily.
