Change in date of nighttime road closure on N2 KwaMashu to Mount Edgecombe Interchange

In the interest of safety for both motorists and the construction team, comprehensive traffic management measures are in place.
The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) wishes to inform road users of a change in date for the temporary nighttime road closure on the N2 northbound carriageway between the Kwamashu and Mount Edgecombe Interchanges to install two overhead sign gantries which span the N2.
The road closure will now take place as follows:
Closure details:
- From 7pm on Saturday, June 21 to 7am on Sunday, June22.
- N2 North Bound (Durban to King Shaka Internation Airport) Carriageway Closure
*Note that the N2 southbound carriageway will be unaffected and remains fully open to traffic.

Road users can expect to see the installation of temporary signage, safety barriers, and traffic calming devices in preparation for the closure. A detailed alternative route guide is provided below to assist motorists in navigating around the affected section.
All road-users are advised to plan their routes ahead of time and where possible leave for destinations earlier than usual. Trucks and heavy vehicle operators are advised to delay their trips over this period if possible or find suitable staging areas to avoid major congestion. Public transport operators are asked to ensure that their drivers are aware of the closure.
