The construction of Cathyville Clinic has brought light to community members from Emjindini and surrounding areas.

Community members from Ext 14 in Emjindini and nearby areas can now get better healthcare services following the renovation of Cathyville Clinic.

Before the upgrade, the clinic was operating from a small office at the Cathyville Community Hall. In August 2021, a pre-launch ceremony was held by the Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Gwede Mantashe, but the clinic was incomplete and did not offer essential health services.

A Barberton Mines spokesperson, Soya Magida, said the project is part of the mine’s efforts to support the community.

“We have a duty to make sure the community benefits from the resources we provide,” said Magida.

The clinic is now modern and well-equipped. It has created jobs for 39 people, including medical staff and general workers. The clinic offers services such as check-ups, physical examinations, and health screenings. It is open from Monday to Saturday, from 07:30 to 15:30.

The head sister, Joyce Nkosi, said the clinic has made a big difference.

“Community members are now getting the services they deserve. It has also helped health workers to do their jobs better and with more motivation,” she said.

Patients can now see doctors twice a week and receive full immunisation services. These improvements have helped both the community and the healthcare workers.
