Cape Town stadium: tender decision imminent

the tender for cape town's r2,9-billion soccer world cup stadium is expected to be awarded by the city's bid adjudication committee on tuesday afternoon.

a consortium made up of murray & roberts and wbho has already been named as the preferred bidder.

the city council approved the budget for the multipurpose stadium last week, after an eleventh-hour r182-million guarantee from banking giant investec to cover a shortfall.

the stadium, on green point common, is to be used as a semifinal venue for the 2010 event.
