Roads Agency Limpopo says it has set aside a budget of R12 million for the construction of the D3505 road and R5 million for the construction of two bridges in the Bakenberg area, under the Mogalakwena Local Municipality.

This as the residents of Marulaneng, Nelly, Vanwykspan and several other villages in the Bakenberg area are demanding answers from RAL regarding the construction of the said road and the two bridges, which they say were promised to them in the previous financial year.

Secretary of the Bakeberg Intelligence Technical Association, Edwin Ngoetjana says previously, RAL told them that the 33-kilometre road will be constructed in three phases and the construction of the 14 kilometres first phase, will start this year.

Ngoetjana says RAL also told them that it had secured budget for the construction of two bridges and the construction of phase one of the road.

He says engineers have also been sent and they have completed designs of the projects, but they do not know when the project will start.

This happened after RAL missed its meeting that was set up with the community on Monday this week to provide an update on the construction of the road.
