Pavement repairs along Beach Road in Bantry Bay began last week, with work starting near Seacliff Road and progressing toward Saunders Beach, a project that will bring much-needed upgrades but also temporary disruptions for pedestrians.

According to reports and a social media post by Ward 54 Councillor Nicola Jowell on Facebook, the repairs will be done in phases to minimize inconvenience, though walkers should still expect significant disruptions as sections of the pavement are dug up. The city’s project manager has coordinated with contractors to streamline the work.

The long-awaited repairs aim to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility along one of Bantry Bay’s key coastal routes. However, the construction phase will inevitably cause inconveniences for daily walkers and residents.

The project comes as part of ongoing infrastructure maintenance in the area, addressing worn-out pavements that have been a concern for locals.

Construction has already begun on the Seacliff side before moving toward Saunders Beach. Pedestrians should plan for detours or uneven pathways during construction.
