Tender Details Project: Access to Safe Drinking Water and Improved Sanitation - Study on the Socio-Economic and Health Impact. Country: Regional Africa. The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group invites expressions of interest from firms for the following: A Study on the Socio-Economic and Health Impact of Access to Safe Drinking Water and Improved Sanitation in Two regional Member Countries (Ghana and Madagascar). The Study will look at the socio-economic and health impact of Rural Water and Sanitation Supply Initiatives (RWSSI) in two regional member countries (Ghana and Madagascar) of the AfDB Group. The RWSSI approach that the African Development Bank developed in 2000 is to mainstream rural water supply and sanitation development into government sector programming, including support for the development of programs where these do not exist. The AfDB envisages to conduct studies among populations that benefit from the access to improved water and sanitation services in order to evaluate the reduction of the water related mortality and morbidity indicators as well as increase of the positive socio-economic indicators that are due to the integrated actions within these programs. The services will include, but not be limited to: Quantify the epidemiological situation regarding water borne diseases and pathologies that are spread by water related vectors among populations in the areas in question; Collect data in the community; Calculate the costs of consequences or benefits, in monetary terms on the economic impact, benefits in terms of health, in education, social sector in the improvement of the quality of life of populations starting from the AfDB’s interventions; Describe and put in place a process of an evaluation and follow-up of the indicators that have been defined for a continuous evaluation in given time intervals (at 6, 12, 24 months and after the project).
