About this development

Construction of the Soutrivier South wind energy facility located within Ward 5 and Ward 6 on Farm 157, Remaining Extent Farm 158, Portion 6; Farm 196; Farm 197 Portion 1; Farm 208 Portion 3; Farm 209 Remaining Extent and Farm 212 Portion 2, near Victoria West and Loxton towns, Ubuntu Local Municipality, Northern Cape. The development will consist of up to 35 turbines, with a total facility output of up to 270MW. It will also include a powerline and switching station in order to connect to the existing Eskom Substation. There will also be a battery energy storage system, temporary and permanent laydown areas, an IPP substation, a collector substation, a concrete tower manufacturing facility, access roads and a construction compound area. The construction footprint will be up to 142ha, inclusive of roads, rehabilitated to an operational footprint of up to 93ha inclusive of roads. The GPS has been estimated between Victoria West and Loxton town 31°27'01.2"S 22°49'42.1"E
