About this development
Construction of a prison for 3000 inmates and staff quarters for 297 personnel, in East London, Eastern Cape. The proposed development of a new generation prison on erven 20433 and 33226, on a vacant portion of the existing Fort Glamorgan Prison. The prison will consist of prisoner accommodation, primary health care, laundry, cooking, educational, industrial and sporting facilities and offices. In order to make way for the prison, an existing shooting range and 2 mega-litre reservoir will be demolished. A new 3 mega-litre reservoir will be constructed and the shooting range will be relocated.
