About this development
Construction of the new Paarden Eiland 70Ml/Day desalination plant, located on ERF 15201-RE, ERF 16387, ERF 14809 and ERF 148405, off Nereide Street in Paarden Eiland Industrial, Cape Town, Western Cape. The approximate value of the project is R5 billion. The City of Cape Town plans for the plant to produce between 50 to 70 million litres of potable water per day. The site lies between the R27 (Marine Drive) and the N1. The project includes the seawater intake and concentrate outfall pipelines, which run in parallel through the existing concrete seawater canal system from the site to the outer wall of the Port of Cape Town and into Table Bay. The seawater intake will be positioned approximately 1.27km offshore. The GPS co-ordinates are 33°55'12.6"S 18°27'27.1"E.
