About this development
(Formerly known as Phase 1: Hidden Valley Wind Energy Facility) Establishment of the Karusa Wind Farm and associated infrastructure, south of Sutherland, in the Northern Cape. The facility will be established in three phases, which will include 170 wind turbines, up to three on-site 132 kV substations and one on-site 400kV substation, a 400 kV power line linking to a new 400 kV substation to link up to the existing Eskom transmission infrastructure, underground cables linking the turbines to the substation, workshop area and internal access roads to each turbine. The Karusa Wind Farm is proposed on the following farm portions (which collectively occupies land of 136.2km2 in extent): Farm De Hoop 202, Farm Standvastigheid 210, Portion 1, 2, 3 and the remainder of Farm Rheebokke Fontein 209. The project will include up to 57 wind turbines, appropriately spaced to make use of the wind resource on the site. GPS coordinates: 32°54’05.40”S; 20°37’34.10”E
