About this development
Establishment of the Hidden Valley Wind Energy Facility and associated infrastructure, south of Sutherland, in the Northern Cape. The facility will be established in three phases, which will include 170 wind turbines, up to three on-site 132 kV substations and one on-site 400kV substation, a 400 kV power line linking to a new 400 kV substation to link up to the existing Eskom transmission infrastructure, underground cables linking the turbines to the substation, workshop area and internal access roads to each turbine. Phase 3: Great Karoo Wind Farm is proposed on the following farm portions (which collectively occupies land of 91.8 km2 in extent): Farm Kentucky 206, Portion 1 of Farm Wolvenkop 207. The primary components of the Great Karoo Wind Farm include up to 57 wind turbines, appropriately spaced to make use of the wind resource on the site. The exact co-ordinates are currently not available however the marker has been placed on farm Kentucky, 32°48'07.1"S 20°45'28.8"E.
