About this development
Construction of a two-berth container terminal for the East London port. This will include the costs of land reclamation, new piers, dredging, container handling equipment and its refurbishment on a seven-year basis. If the new terminal materializes, container volumes are forecast to rise to 250 000 twenty-foot containers within 10 years. The plans include doubling the car terminal, which has an annual throughput of 50 000 units. Estimated project value: R5 billion.
