About this development
The new Dedisa open-cycle gas turbine (OCGT) project, is to be established in the Coega Industrial Development Zone in Eastern Cape. The project plans to construct a 340 MW OCGT plant, comprising two units (Ansaldo Energia AE94.2 gas turbine and generator) at the Coega industrial development zone, 15 km north-east of Port Elizabeth, to operate as a peaking power plant. The facility will be connected to State-owned electricity utility Eskom’s Dedisa substation, with the electricity fed into the grid at a transmission voltage of 400 kV. This is a separate project from the proposed PetroSA power project. Estimated project value: R5-6 billion.
