About this development
Construction of the Cradock Ethanol Project, which comprises the development of a commercially viable and sustainable bio-ethanol plant and related infrastructure. The plant will produce fuel grade ethanol as primary product and co-products which will be sold as high protein components into the animal feed market. Located in the Cradock region of the Eastern Cape. The plan is to produce about 90 million litres of biofuel each year. The sustainability of sugar beet being processed in the second phase of the project was still being investigated but initially only sorghum would be used to produce the ethanol. Estimated project value: R1.1 billion.
