About this development
Eskom is to strengthen the 132kV overhead powerline and substation network in the Greater Mthatha area, in the Eastern Cape. The project aims to improve network capacity for future electrification and consists of a number of lines and substations which have been grouped into 3 separate projects. Project 1: Construction of approximately 10km of 132kV powerline from Mthatha substation to Paynes Farm substation. Construction of the Paynes Farm substation. Construction of approximately 24km of 132kV powerline from Paynes Farm substation to Sappi substation and construction of the Sappi substation.
