About this development
Construction of a chemical plant by Straits Chemicals at Coega. The plant will produce chlorine, caustic soda and hydrochloric acid. Also included is a large water-desalination plant. The desalination plant will produce 80 000m³ of water a day, including 60 000m³ of drinkable water and 1 800 tons of salt. The chlorine and alkali plant is expected to produce 611 tons of chlorine gas a day and 667 tons a day of caustic soda.
