About this development
Development of a solar and wind energy generation facility, known as the Clover Valley Renewable Energy Facility, approximately 3.5 km north-west of Mamre, and about 13 km south of Darling, in the Western Cape Province. The proposed facility will comprise of about 26 wind turbines (wind farm), as well as a number of photovoltaic (PV) panels that convert solar radiation energy into electrical energy. The facility will have the combined capacity to generate a maximum electricity output of about 140 megawatts. The turbines and solar panels will be spaced over an area of about 1000 ha on the Farm Klaver Valley No. 727, Farm No. 725, and Farm No. 1180, Malmesbury Registration District (RD). Associated infrastructure will include a small substation, twee spoor access tracks, and an electricity transmission line to the Dassenberg Substation in Atlantis. Value R1.2bn.
