Construction of the commercial component for the Boplaas Village. Comprising some 2,500 residential units, combining a broad variety of residential, commercial and civic opportunities, including a range of tourism, recreational and sporting facilities. An emphasis placed on the provision of sheltered, liveable external spaces that function as extensions of both living room and garden. Courtyards and outside areas should be articulated by recesses, overhangs, shutters and verandahs. Climate control elements and sustainable design principles are to take preference with the skillful integration of solar water and energy panels, wind generators, hot water storage tanks and rainwater harvesting elements into the building design being of prime importance. Based on the concept of traditional neighbourhood design, the village will consist of a number of residential nodes and neighbourhoods. Centrally located between Jeffrey’s Bay and Humansdorp, Eastern Cape. Total Project Value: R 3-billion.
